Assessing the Role of the SHARED GREEN DEAL Experiments in Advancing Climate Action

Report

This report synthesises findings from SHARED GREEN DEAL social experiments carried out across Europe, showing how locally led, participatory approaches can support mitigation and adaptation across energy, mobility, food, biodiversity, circular economy, and renovations.

The analysis highlights both the potential of community-driven initiatives and the barriers they face — including policy misalignment, bureaucracy, and persistent gaps in justice and inclusion. The findings point to the importance of better policy coordination, tailored support for vulnerable groups, improved data on local climate contributions, and long-term resources for participatory action.
