New Forum for Shared Green Societies to Launch Across Europe

The forum is being launched in recognition that the demand for an inclusive and just green transition with public backing is increasingly urgent. Communities, authorities, civil society and SSH (Social Sciences and Humanities) researchers are innovating every day, yet too often work in isolation. Building shared understanding is key to linking technological and policy opportunities with fairness concerns, while responding to the mounting pressure to act.
The Shared Green Societies Forum is designed to bridge this gap by connecting evidence, practice, and policy, and bringing together those leading on the ground with those shaping ideas and strategies. The establishment of the Forum is led by ALDA Europe.
The forum will include different types of Membership, depending on whether it involves full formal members (such as universities/departments and network organisations), Champions (including local or regional authorities, individual researchers or small teams, and businesses), or Friends of the Forum, with a more occasional or observer capacity.
The launch event will bring together civil society, local and regional actors, policymakers and researchers from across Europe to co-create the forum’s next steps in sessions including input from the European Commission, researchers across the Social Sciences and Humanities disciplines, and local ‘Champions’ who have driven sustainability action on the ground across Europe.
